Who are Rainbows?
What is Girlguiding UK?
Girlguiding UK is the UK's largest voluntary organisation for girls, providing them with new and exciting experiences. There are currently about 575,000 members, with many more waiting to join. The aim of Guiding is to help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world. Girlguiding UK is open to any girl over the age of 5, regardless of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance.
Who are Rainbows?
Rainbows are the youngest members of Girlguiding UK. Any girl can become a Rainbow once she is 5 years old.
What do Rainbows promise?
Like all members of Girlguiding UK, Rainbows make a promise: "I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful".
What is the Rainbow programme?
The Rainbow programme is called the "Rainbow Jigsaw" and has four areas - Look, Learn, Laugh and Love. Everything we do is based on one of the four areas.

Who is Olivia?
Olivia is the Rainbow mascot. Most Rainbow units have an Olivia doll. There are also stories about a Rainbow called Olivia and her journey through Rainbows.

Moving On
When a Rainbow has her 7th birthday, she can move on to Brownies. The Brownie units usually take new girls at the beginning of a term so sometimes Rainbows stay a few extra months. All 1st and 2nd Roath Park Rainbows will now be automatically added to the Brownie Waiting Lists, however we will need to know if you have a preference.
Brownies is for girls aged 7-10 and then girls move on to Guides (10-14) and the Senior Section (14-26).

Guiding in Roath Park District
1st and 2nd Roath Park Rainbows are part of Roath Park District, which also includes 2 Brownie Units and a Guide unit. All of these units meet in the same building and sometimes get together for District events or meetings. Panda is currently co-District Commissioner, along with one of the Guide Guiders.
Roath Park District is part of N.E. Cardiff Division, which is part of Cardiff and East Glamorgan County. Occassionally, we will meet up with Rainbows, and even Brownies and Guides, from the Division or even County.
Web Safety
For every girl pictured on this website, parents have given permission for their daughter's photo to be online. When a girl's name is mentioned, her parents have given permission for that also.
Names are never used to identify photos on this website.
